Beta Blocker & Hair Loss

Q. I am taking a beta blocker for my high blood pressure and I noticed hair loss a few months after I started.

A. Yes this is a known side effect from beta blockers and is irreversible. However the good news is your hair can be replaced with a hair transplant and the growth will not be affected by the medication so it will always be permanent. This is because the hair growing on the back of your head, in the "donor" areas, is not susceptible to this problem.
